Cable Success

Here’s a sneak peak at my procrastination hat:

I haven’t decided if I’m happy enough with it to cast off.  It is super thick and soft (baby alpaca!), but it’s not quite the silhouette I had in mind.  But I might just be unhappy with it because it is not yet topped off with an awesome pink pompom.  We’ll see.  It’s Misti Alpaca Chunky in color 1890, a bright pinky fuchsia.

Next, as you can see, the Branching Aran Guernsey is growing!  I’ve started working on the actual cable pattern, and it is surprisingly quick and unfiddly to knit.  I ended up switching back to the 3.5 mm needles for the cable pattern for gauge and elasticity’s sake.  Also, please excuse how dirty my blanket looks.  It is actually quite clean, just covered in cat hair.

Here’s a closeup on the cables.  It’s hard to photograph this yarn, but you get the idea.

I’m really happy with this pattern and my yarn choice so far.  Everything seems to be going smoothly, although not terribly quickly.  And hopefully I will have a new hat to wear later this week.
